Welcome pilgrims! Please read the group's description in its entirety before registering. This is a twice-monthly writing group (with the hope of becoming weekly) for the Camino community that I offer in the donativo (pay-what-you-can) tradition so that it's accessible to all. We'll meet from 9:00 - 10:00 am Pacific Standard Time (PST). You'll then get email reminders for this group that include options for how to donate if you are able. You'll also receive other emails from me occasionally about other free and paid offerings, and you can unsubscribe at any time. No prior writing (or Camino) experience is necessary, but participants must be 18 years or older. Each meeting, we will follow the same structure: - Quick chat greetings and check-in (~3 minutes --- folks won't be admitted after this window) - Candle lighting and grounding meditation (~3 minutes) - Review the rules of "writing practice" (~3 minutes) - Two timed writings with Camino-related prompts* (~10-15 minutes each) - Optional sharing of what you wrote in small groups with NO comment or feedback (~15 minutes) - Debrief, pilgrim blessing (~5 minutes) *There will be suggested prompts for both those who have walked and those who haven't yet. I've been hosting writing practice groups like this for years and love how liberating they are for people willing to do the practice. It's a way of writing that comes from the book "Writing Down the Bones" by Natalie Goldberg, and I encourage you to read it to deepen your practice in this group, but it's optional. I will review the "rules" of writing practice briefly at the beginning of each session. In short, they are: - Keep the hand moving - No editing, crossing out, spell-checking - There is no good or bad, no judgment - Go towards the resistance; that's where the energy is Even if you don't follow the rules of writing practice and prefer another way, which is fine, there is a sharing section after we write that everyone MUST follow: when we share our writing and read aloud (optional), nobody comments or gives feedback, now or at any point in the future. We simply practice deep listening and witness each other's stories. If you can't or aren't willing to honor the "no comment" rule, this isn't the group for you.
